The Highlander Hiking Beijing competition was recently held at the Shuiguan Great Wall, marking its first event in Asia. The Beijing station attracted over 50 hiking enthusiasts from 18 provinces and municipalities, including Beijing, Shandong, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu.
Participants are required to carry all their gear—food, tents, sleeping bags—on their backs and hike completely self-sufficiently. Each day, they set up camp at designated wilderness sites. This challenge tests both physical endurance and mental fortitude, with only those who experience it truly understanding the awe and transformation at the end of the journey.
The starting point was set at the Badaling Shuiguan Great Wall. The route’s highlight includes climbing the city wall, overlooking the rolling mountains, and seeing the Great Wall wind like a dragon beneath one’s feet. Along the way, hikers traverse primeval forests, ancient villages, and mountain ridges before completing the entire course.
Highlander is a renowned heavy-load hiking brand. Since its founding in 2017, it has successfully organized over 40 long-distance hiking events in more than 20 countries and regions worldwide.
