Real Betis wants tonight’s match against Elche (8:00 PM) to be a celebration on the road to securing a Champions League spot. To make it happen, the club has called on its supporters to fill the stands of the La Cartuja stadium in green and white for the league fixture. “Green and white are their colors, white and green is the path. The team knows it needs the support of its fans more than ever in this final stretch of the season, despite the mixed feelings left by some of the most important matches of the campaign, such as the derby against Sevilla, the Copa del Rey clash with Atlético, or the recent European disappointment against Portuguese side Braga.
While the club is counting on a massive fan presence for the remaining two league games, it is also voicing a complaint that was formalized in a statement yesterday. The statement expressed “displeasure” with the Spanish Government’s Subdelegation in Seville and the National Police over restrictions imposed on stadium access on match days. The club cites an “insurmountable distance” that currently exists between the fans and the team bus, a situation that has worsened since the temporary move to La Cartuja.
“All requests and different alternatives proposed by Real Betis have been rejected by the National Police for the most important matches of the season. For the game against Elche CF, where we are fighting for Champions League qualification, we have once again received the same strict refusal,” the club stated.

Betis also insists there is a comparative grievance: “In recent days, we have even seen how closeness between fans and the Sevilla FC bus has been facilitated. This has created a significant unfair comparison with Real Betis Balompié and its supporters.”
