Avangard general manager Alexei Sopin has spoken about the upcoming offseason and the team’s transfer policy.
Contracts are expiring for players such as Vyacheslav Voynov, Kirill Dolzhenkov, Kirill Pilipenko, Giovanni Fiore, and Joseph Cecconi.
“Some of our leaders have significant contract increases, so there could be big trades. Honestly, we don’t want any global changes or revolutions. We’re at a stage where we’ll make targeted reinforcements.
If we look not only at Lokomotiv but at any championship team to see what steps were taken to build the squad, we see we need to figure out which positions require strengthening and fill those gaps to avoid a full rebuild.
As for those whose contracts are ending – we’re in negotiations. I won’t name names – I’ve been burned by that before – but we have two or three weeks to calmly talk with everyone and decide what we’ll do next,” said Alexei Sopin.
