The Portland Trail Blazers are reportedly not planning to remove the interim tag from Tiago Splitter, despite his impressive finish to the season. According to Jake Fischer, the Brazilian coach led the team to a 42-39 record and secured their first playoff appearance in five years. However, league sources continue to suggest that the organization is unlikely to offer him the full-time position.
“While interim coach Tiago Splitter remains under consideration after going 42-39 and steering the Blazers to their first playoff berth in five years, sources with knowledge of the situation continue to say it’s unlikely that the Brazilian lands the job in a full-time capacity,” Fischer reported.
Splitter remains part of Portland’s ongoing coaching search, but all signs point to the franchise seeking a different head coach for the future.
