Equipment/Materials Required For All PRO Courses

At this point is you are considering completing a professional level course, you should by now have your own diving equipment. Whilst course prices do include equipment rental. if you are considering buying some equipment ask for our latest "Equipment Special Offer".

As with most Professional Courses the more resources available to you whilst attending/preparing for your PRO Course the better.  We understand that most people are on a budget, and don't want to lug heavy manuals around with them than what is necessary.  This is why we have many of the "additional" books on our PADI Bookshelf; for you to refer to if need be.  There are a number of Manuals, Books and slates that you will need for your course.  We have put together special packages at reduced prices, see our booking form at the end of this page for further details.

Enrol in a PADI ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR COURSE

This course is designed to build upon the Divemaster's abilities to organise and supervise dive activities while concentrating on developing teaching skills. Through independent study, Knowledge Development Sessions and Practical Application you will learn to construct effective Knowledge Development presentations as well as Conducting Confined and Open Water Teaching Presentation; so that you can conduct some of the PADI Programmes. The Assistant Instructor Course is a useful stepping stone for students that wish to work in the industry and also for candidates that wish to carry on to become an PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.

A PADI Assistant Instructor can sign up for this course and become a fully fledged PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.  With the knowledge and experience gathered from your PADI Assistant Instructor Course you should find that the OWSI Course continues your Dive Education where you left off.  You will find that you will brush up your skills both in Knowledge Development Presentations and in your Confined/Open Water Dives.

The two steps to becoming a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor are to complete an IDC and pass a PADI Instructor Examination (IE). Our goal is to prepare you to be a competent professional PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. You are guided by a first class team who will help you develop your abilities and practice teaching skills. The IDC is the core part in an Instructors Development; the purpose of the IDC is for the candidate to 'understand' the PADI system and all its programmes. At Subway Dive Centre we do not just want you to pass your IE but also to feel confident and find your place in our exciting industry.

Course Prerequisite for the Instructor Development Course:

1.Be a PADI Divemaster or Equivalent
2.Be 18 years old
3.To hold a current (not older than 1 year) Medical Statement signed by a licensed physician stating that the candidate is fit for Scuba Diving. The physician signing the form may not be the instructor candidate applicant.
4.Have been certified for at least 6 months and have completed and logged at least 60 dives (as documented in the individual's log book)
5.Submit proof of First Aid/CPR training within the last 24 months.
6.Submit documentation of entry-level diving certification, Advanced and Rescue training.

Deposits

Payment can be made in advance by cash, cheque or Credit Card. A deposit of €100 is required for an AI/OWSI/IDC/Staff Inst at time of booking. Full payment is due on the first day of the course.

 

Attending a PADI INSTRUCTOR EXAMINATION (IE)

The PADI Instructor Examination (IE) is held after every scheduled IDC; an Instructor Examiner, who is a member of the PADI Staff, conducts this programme. This programme is conducted over a two day period, evaluating the candidates presentation skills: both in the Classroom, Confined and Open Water.

Programme Prerequisites for the Instructor Examination:

1.To have completed an IDC/OWSI within 12 months
2.To have logged 100 dives
3.To have been a certified diver for 6 months

 

Become an EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE  INSTRUCTOR

After completing your DM/AI or IE the first thing you should do is complete your Emergency First Response Instructor Course. Changes in Standards effective from March 2009 mean that all candidates must be EFRI to qualify as Open Water Scuba Instructors.  This Course gives you the necessary training needed to certify students with the following certifications:-

Instructors that have PADI Specialties are more employable. PADI Specialty courses are fun and exciting for the Resort Diver. A short course in the area in which they most enjoy is a great product to offer to any level of diver. PADI MASTER SCUBA DIVER TRAINER  Preparation 

PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainers are PADI Instructors who have at least five PADI Specialty Instructor ratings, which qualifies them to conduct all training requirements for the Master Scuba Diver rating.

In this programme you are shown both how to teach your choice of five specialties and also how to market the courses. This title is a major asset when applying for jobs in the industry - you have proven that you are a believer in continued education, this is an asset in itself.

Become a PADI IDC STAFF INSTRUCTOR

Staff Instructors are able to:

1. Independently teach and certify PADI Assistant Instructors.

2. Conduct IDC training segments under the direct supervision of a PADI Course Director.

3. Evaluate and critique instructor candidate knowledge development,confined water and open water teaching presentations.

4. Provide counseling and remedial training for instructor candidates and IDC Staff Instructor candidates.

5. Assist with training during instructor-level continuing education programs, such as PADI Specialty Instructor Training courses.

6. Observe the orientation and closing sessions of PADI Instructor

Course Prerequisites

To enroll in a PADI IDC Staff Instructor course, an individual must:

1. Be renewed and in Teaching status as a PADI Instructor for the current year.

2. Hold a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating.

3. Agree to conduct all levels of diver training consistent with the standards and philosophy outlined in the PADI Instructor Manual.

4. Agree to use the PADI System and components in its entirety.

The first 2 days of the course you will be familiarizing yourself with the Instructor Development process and the Assistant Instructor Course. You will learn to give role model presentations both in the classroom and in water. After successful completion of this section, you will audit a complete IDC. Throughout this course you will be perfecting your presentation and evaluation skills.
